A native of Pittsburgh, Robert Gussin retired from Johnson & Johnson as Corporate Vice President of Science & Technology and Chief Scientific Officer in 2000.

Bob received both his Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy and Masters of Science in Pharmacology from Duquesne University. He received a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the University of Michigan, and holds an honorary Doctor of Science degree from Duquesne University.

The author of a number of scientific publications, Bob has contributed several chapters to academic textbooks.  He has served on a number of commercial and non-profit boards and advisory committees, including the NASA Aerospace Medicine and Occupational Health Advisory Committee, Duquesne University Board of Directors, as well as the Board of Directors of Catholic Health Services of Long Island.  He presently serves on the Board of Directors of Christus Health and Pain Therapeutics, Inc., and chairs the Advisory Committee to the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Michigan Medical School.  He is a sought-after speaker and presents at a variety of conferences, symposia and association meetings. He also volunteers at the Senior Friendship Center in Sarasota, Florida.

Bob and his wife, Dr. Patricia Gussin, divide their time between Longboat Key, Florida, East Hampton, New York, and their vineyard in Marlborough, New Zealand.

Two of Bob’s passions – science and sports – collide in his first novel, Trash Talk.

In What’s Next…For You? Bob and Pat tell of the glorious disappearance of their retirement as they moved into writing, publishing, and wine-making and more fun than they ever could have imagined.
